Partner dancing, especially ballroom dancing in a social setting, is my great passion, which I would like to pass on as a teacher and trainer. I want to enable my couples to have a common, enjoyable experience of movement on the dance floor. I therefore place particular emphasis on a holistic approach to all aspects, whereby a solid foundation is a prerequisite for any development.

Regular dance classes in Standard and Latin since 2018 (incl. private trainings and lessons since 2022), about 2 years of dance classes in Zouk as well as technique classes at DanceZouk.

I started dancing in 2011 in the dance group of my high school, where I learned tap dancing for six years. During my mathematics studies at ETH, I discovered ballroom dancing, which I continue to pursue. Dancing not only offers me a balance to my studies/doctorate, but also allows me to make new contacts. As an assistant at ETH, I discovered my joy of teaching early on and gladly took the opportunity to work with the Academia Zurich dance club. This job allows me to share my passion for dance and deepen my own knowledge.

For me, partner dancing is the highly developed art of sharing movements to music with another person while enjoying the rhythm and melody. I see it as a language—a tactile form of communication with a clear division of roles. That's why I emphasise learning to lead and follow in my lessons

Teacher Levels

Senior Dance Teacher

These are highly qualified teachers: A Professional Examination in Standard and Latin from an internationally recognised association (such as ISTD or IDTA) at Licenciate level or higher, competition and show experience as well as choreographic skills are prerequisites for promotion to this level—as well as comprehensive teaching experience of at least 15 years of teaching practice.
Our Senior Dance Teachers are not only qualified to teach at all course levels, even without an assistant, but are also involved in the training of our assistants and the further training of our dance teachers.

Certified Dance Teacher

Our qualified, experienced dance teachers who have a recognised dance teacher or trainer qualification can be promoted to this level. Further requirements include in-depth knowledge of technique, a basic understanding of biomechanics and physics, competition experience and knowledge of choreography. They are qualified to teach at all course levels, even without an assistant, and are also involved in the training of our assistants and some of our dance teachers.

Dance Teacher

Dance teachers are qualified dance instructors who are able to teach dance competently and purposefully due to their training and/or experience. Although we do not require any recognised training, we do expect a certain amount of experience or basic dance teacher training. Dance teachers are involved in the training of our assistants.
(Junior) Dance teachers who wish to progress to Dance Teacher must have gained the relevant experience and prove in a specialised examination that they have largely mastered the ISTD Bronze Syllabus in both disciplines and both roles.

Junior Dance Teacher

Young dance teachers who have gained teaching experience—e.g. as teaching assistants—and who have demonstrated the necessary didactic and professional competence in a trial lesson and a professional examination, are allowed to teach courses. However, due to the rudimentary experience in this role so far, we always try to provide our junior dance teachers with a teaching assistant.
They have a sound knowledge of the beginners' syllabus according to internationally recognised standards as per ISTD or IDTA and can answer questions competently.

Senior Teaching Assistant

Experienced teaching assistants, who have proven their didactic and professional competence in a trial lesson and subject examination, may independently help organise course lessons under the supervision of a dance teacher and, in certain cases, take over the course lead, e.g. if the lead teacher is absent at short notice. In this way, they contribute to a high level of learning success.

Teaching Assistant

Enthusiastic dancers who have completed at least our PreBronze course level (or equivalent) and would like to teach can join us as teaching assistants. Their task is to support our course participants independently in case of questions and difficulties as well as to substitute for a leading teacher for a short period of time. They also provide support by being available as a demonstration partner and acting as a "second pair of eyes" to draw the lead teacher's attention to difficulties and questions or to solve or answer them independently.
